From time to time, the investments held within your OneVest Halal portfolio may pay out cash distributions. Cash distributions are paid out of the investment funds you own as part of the Halal Portfolio, and can be composed of dividends, income, as well as realized capital gains.
When this happens, you'll see these appear in the app as "Dividend" in the Investment History for a given goal.
Following receipt, cash distributions will automatically be reinvested back into your OneVest Halal Portfolio.
Remember that what matters at the end of the day, in terms of your portfolio performance, is your portfolio’s total return. Total return is made up of two components:
- Income (i.e. dividends and distributions)
- Capital gains/losses (when the price of your investments increase or decrease)
